Leading by example -- forgiveness

I stand amazed today at the example of Christ in the life of a sister.  

I was in a leadership meeting at my church today, and this sister said something that *could* have been offensive to some by way of making a joke. I saw immediately that she was joking, and of course it didn't bother me, but sine I was one that the statement *could* have offended, this dear woman took a moment to seek me out and make sure that there was no offense taken.

What an example of Christian leadership! I challenge you (and myself) to follow this dear lady's lead and take the opportunity to ask forgiveness -- even if you're not sure that it's necessary. It's another way to show Christ's love to both believers and non-believers. Thank you, dear sister, for giving me an example to follow.

What a week! We started by hearing God tell David that David is not going to build God’s house, but that God would build David’s house, and David’s son would  have the honor of building God’s house. Can you imagine hearing God say that God Himself would build for you? Did you know that He did promise to build you a house?

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-3 (KJV)

Jesus Himself promises to prepare a place for you if you have accepted Him as your Savior. Sometimes God’s grace astounds me. We receive salvation as a free gift – there’s absolutely nothing that you or I can do to earn our way into heaven. After that, Jesus, the One who voluntarily hung on a cross and died for me – for you – for the world, promised us that He was personally preparing a place for us!  What a God!

Week 18 - Psalm 69

But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.

Sometimes I wish “they” could devise a reading plan that gives us a Psalm every other day or so. To me, reading many Psalms in a day can take away their impact. My Wednesday reading was such a day (Psalm overload). One Psalm stood out to me, and that’s why I am devoting a special post to Psalm 69.
